HOW TO APPLY AS SUN LIFE FINANCIAL ADVISOR

  • Set Online Interview (Zoom) with Unit Manager
  • Attend Company Orientation/Live Brighter Forum Once (Every Saturday)
  • Fill Up The Required Application Forms (From Manager)
  • Finish Online Training on Traditional and VUL Insurance
  • Finish Sun Life Training Course (SLTC)
  • Submit Documentary Requirements (Listed Below)
  • Pay 3030 Pesos License Fee
  • Attend Product Trainings
  • Wait for the release of Provisional Authority (P.A.) from the Insurance Commission
  • Once P.A. is released, attend contract signing orientation
  • Read and sign the agent's contract
  • Wait for your agent's code to be released by licensing department
  • Once code is released, happy selling!

MY SUN LIFE STORY

Since you will be working with me as your Unit Manager in Sun Life, it is very important that you have a glimpse of my life story. You will learn the hardships I endured growing up and how I achieved the good life today. Read it now here.

My Sun Life Story – How Sun Life Changed My Life

One night in 2012, while I was searching articles online on how I can better manage my finances, I stumbled upon the financial blog of my then Unit Manager Mr Garry De Castro. I was amazed how he was using digital marketing (thru blogging) in offering his services as a Sun Life financial advisor. My work back then was a digital marketer in an American outsourcing company in Mandaluyong City.

I got curious and asked him how I can be like him. He invited to me to join his team in Sun Life. That time I was already a policy holder of another insurance company. That invitation became one of the best invitations I received in my life.

Little backstory: In college, I met a very successful lady working as financial advisor in Baguio City. Through her I got the impression that financial advisors are earning well. She was the first one who taught me the importance of life insurance. Six years after I met her, I became a financial advisor too. I think it's destiny that I am in this career. God introduced me to this career early in life through that lady .

I finished all the requirements of becoming a Sun Life advisor and mutual fund representative in just two months or less. I remember then attending six-night classes of Sun Life (Basic Training Course) as there was no online training back then. I also worked night shift in my job back then to attend the day trainings for mutual fund advisor exam. Luckily, I passed all the exams to become licensed by the Insurance Commission and the Securities and Exchange Commission.

The first hurdle I faced when I was a rookie (first year advisor) is finding clients. I don’t have a network of potential clients back then. It was really difficult to sell to friends and relatives. Good thing I knew how to use Wordpress as a blogging tool to create articles and become searchable in Google. I worked as a writer in an online publishing company in college, so I know how to write Google-friendly articles. People began finding me through Google. These people were very good leads who are almost ready to buy. Up to this day, 90% of my clients found me through search engines like Google.

I ate rejections and frustrations for breakfast, lunch and dinner in my early years in Sun Life and even up to this day. But I knew rejections and frustrations were part of the job and they made me stronger and better as a financial advisor. Without mastering these rejections and frustrations, I would not be here in Sun Life today. I remember being insulted and mocked by a client just because of a very tiny mistake. He was talking to me over the phone and tears just fell from my eyes. I thought of quitting after that happened, but I persevered. To cut the story short, I made the client signed an insurance policy. 

Today, I already have more than 400 clients under management and I am now in my 9th year as a financial advisor. I have accumulated earnings of more than 12 Million pesos since I began as a Sun Lifer in 2012. It would have taken me 20 years to earn this income as an employee and perhaps multiple job hopping to achieve salary increase. For ordinary Filipino employees, it may take a lifetime to earn this income. I bet you know how hard it is to achieve a high paying job in this country. You need to climb the corporate ladder with many hurdles along the way. 

With the help of Sun Life, I was able to help my siblings financially in their college education. They all studied in private college institution. Now, they are all working as professionals. I feel proud every time I see their graduation pics hanging in our walls.

I became a husband and a father at the age of 24 and I was very thankful with my income in Sun Life that I became a good provider. Now, I have two sons and one daughter. They are my big WHY in life. I am working hard to give them a better life, better than what I had growing up. 

With my Sun Life income, I was able to provide a better life to my parents who experienced poverty and hardship half of their life. I was able to renovate our family house and I was able to buy land for them to cultivate. Before, we were just renting our farm, but now we have a farm that we can call our OWN.

When we were young and studying my parents have many debts left and right, but now I can proudly say they are debt free. My mom has a peace of mind now. I also enrolled them in a government pension program so that they will have money when they retire. I am paying most of the premiums. I want them to have a comfortable retirement better than what our ancestors experienced in the past. I am forever grateful to all their sacrifices just to provide for us.

My first big purchase from my Sun Life earning was my brand new car. It was a dream as child to drive my own car. It became a reality at the age of 27. Dreams do come true in Sun Life. After years of commuting to meet my clients, it was a joy to comfortably drive in the busy streets of Manila to meet my growing number of clients. It became easier to meet my clients as far as Batangas. It also became easier to travel during the holidays, to the joy of my wife and kids.

In Sun Life, your efforts are recognized. There are awards in the unit level, sales team level, branch level and of course the most prestigious one is the company level. Some of these awards allowed me to travel locally and internationally with all the expenses paid. My most memorable countries to travel were New Zealand and the United Sates.

Now as a Sun Life unit manager, I am able to lead and teach people how to succeed in this noble and meaningful career. We are now 30+ strong and continue to grow.
